Duran possesses a remarkable aptitude for capturing the essence of a place, its culture, and its inhabitants. The gifted artist skillfully conveys the vibrant energy of his hometown, San Antonio. One is immediately captivated by the sheer intensity of his work. David, a San Antonio native and self-taught artist, has made a significant impact on the local art scene with his distinctive approach and style. What sets David’s art apart is his masterful utilization of vibrant colors and striking contrast achieved through acrylic medium.

David commenced his artistic journey in the first grade when he was provided with Play-Doh and created his inaugural artwork, which consisted of two pirates and a treasure chess. His teacher was so impressed that she arranged for other faculty members and students to witness his creative endeavors. His interest and aptitude continued to flourish throughout his academic career and into his professional life. After serving five years in the Marines, David transitioned to painting South Texas wildlife employing the dry brush technique with watercolor. He successfully sold his work throughout Texas, California and Mexico. After a decade-long absent from painting, David resumed his craft in 1990, utilizing acrylic paint. In 2005, he sustained an injury to his back, necessitating another suspension of his artistic pursuits. However, in 2018, he made a triumphant recovery and a return to painting, fully embracing his passion. It has been in recent years that Duran’s work has garnered the recognition it rightfully deserves.
